She is the mother to all the orphans and the street children at the Grace Masak Foundation. Her highly and esteemed name is
Mrs. Mildred Lantai Lanptey Kassar. She is 37 years of age and was born on 19th June 1971. She is married with two children.
The Anglican Primary School at Mataheko in Accra Ghana, is where she attended school.
At the age of 18 she came across a lot of abandoned children in her vicinity. Moved by the hardships they were going through,
she started helping them by feeding them, washing their clothes and bathing them. She did this till she completed her vocational
training.
She later sat for the late entrance and went to Ashleys Secretarial School. After completing, she went to Lutius of Centery
and did home management, she also learnt hair dressing in which she sat for the Grade one (1) and two (2) exams. After working
with a number of companies, hair-dressing saloons and restaurants and diligently endeavored to train the older ones among
the children. Because of the backgrounds of the children, Mrs. Mildred taught them free of charge.
Things became very hard for her when some street girls joined in with pregnancies. She had pity on them and warmly accepted
them. But some of them disappeared leaving their babies behind after delivery. And this left her with no other choice than
to take care of babies in addition. She single-handedly took very good care of all the children and organized teaching classes
for them. Some of the things she taught them were:
1. The awareness of AIDS/HIV, STD’s.
2. Cleanliness and personal hygiene.
3. How to lead good a moral life.
4. How to deal with peer-pressure.
5. The word of God.
6. Counseling
These teachings really helped them because some of them think because of what they are in now all is lost and there is
no future for them. But through the word of God she was able help them understand that there is better life ahead. She also
made them understand the plans of God for their life and with God all things are possible.
